Calm yourself.

I am a notorious worrier.

A constant ball of stress.

With this party, Josh's birthday, my house re-decoration and the corresponding credit card bills, work, work conferences, and looming vacation, I'm as high strung as they come.

Yesterday, when Josh called me to tell me that he was having car trouble (his tail lights won't go off and his brake lights won't work), I went into panic mode. I needed to get 53 more things done before I could leave work and all of a sudden I took it upon myself to research the problem, call every place I could think of that would help, and do everything short of hiking up my skirt and fixing it myself.

And then I realized... it's not my problem.

I have thousands of other things on my plate right now, and here I am, more worried about Josh being pulled over by his lack of brake lights than he is.

I had worked myself up so much that I had a pounding headache.

So I decided that it's his car. It's his problem. I'm going to let him handle it. He's a big boy. He doesn't need his girlfriend wiping his hiney.

I'm removing it from my plate.

In the process, I also decided that, after opening my credit card bill that had been ignored for a few weeks, anything that hasn't been purchased to finish/fix my house as of this moment, is not important. It's not going to get done. If my party guests are offended that my deck is jerry-rigged and not completely finished, they can go home. And honestly, who's going to care? If I only have 4 couch throw pillows instead of 6, and that bothers someone, they can go buy them for me. I'll gladly accept donations.

This realization has perfect timing. I'll be boarding a plane in less than 24 hours to head on my final vacation of the summer: NYC. Sure, it's not the best place to de-stress, but I'm going to put all of my worries aside for the weekend and enjoy the heck out of my mom & sister.
Things that we didn't get to do last year that are definitely on the list for this year:
Jimmy Fallon live recording
tour of NBC studios
Spiderman on Broadway
Dash
Crumbs
5th Ave (How did we not manage to make it here last year?!)
Naked Cowboy
Empire State Building
Tour of the Statue of Liberty
Reunion
Ann Taylor in TS

Plus, we want to go back to:
Chinatown in SOHO
a dress shop in SOHO that we found last year
Forever 21 in TS
Junior's for some bangin' cheesecake

I think we're going to need more than four days.. what do you think?

  1. Good for you girl! My credit card needs a break from summertime too, too much shopping, vacationing and downright spending :) Oh and Madi loves your furbabies, she gave them all big smooches over the computer!
