Advice & a sugar update

one. Ladies, I need your advice. If you have had or know anything about the birth control shot (DPV), I'd like to know what you think about it? I'm considering switching from the pill, because my face still hasn't cleared up from the hormone overload, and the antibiotic didn't help at all. The only other option is Accu.tane, and that's not something I want to venture into/can afford right now. I know the shot doesn't contain the estrogen that the pill does, but before I drop the $$ to visit my doctor again, I'd like to know your opinion on it!! Any advice is helpful - please and thanks. :-)

two. It's day three without sugar. This is definitely not as easy as I thought it would be. Granted, I didn't think it was going to be that easy... The first night, I started having hot flashes. I was riding home with the windows down and it was sleeting and 33 degrees outside. I thought maybe it was just that I only had half of a hamburger for dinner, so I was going to eat some toast with butter and cinnamon, only, I realized that I didn't have any butter, so I ate toast with honey (natural sugar is okay) and I felt much better afterwards. So, I'm thinking that maybe my blood sugar dropped (probably to a normal level!), which was why I was feeling awful. Day two was better, but those mid-morning & mid-afternoon snack cravings are awful! This morning I ate as big of a bowl of Cheeri0s as I could manage, just to avoid eating a mid-morning snack. So far, it's working! Just four and a half more days to go of this torture...

(And just in case you are of the same belief as my mom - no, the lack of processed sugar isn't helping my face clear up. So there! :-))

  2. The BC shot made me gain a ton of weight. However, it was super nice not having a period. haha.

  3. In terms of birth control, I think that I'd probably try the mini-pill before trying the shot...the progestin-only methods whacked me out big time. I think it would just suck for you to get the shot, HATE it, and then be stuck for 3 months.

  4. Your blood sugar totally dropped. THat used to happen to me a ton before I learned to control it. Eating that toast was probably a good call.

I'm not on birth control and have never been, but I have clients who gained quite a bit of weight after the shot. Not everyone does though.

  5. I've been on depo for about 3 years now and love it. I've had some weight gain but honestly I don't know if it is from the depo, the other meds I'm on (antidepressants are said to do the same thing), or being lazy now that I'm out of the military. Shoot, it could be all three. I haven't had a period in 3 years and love it. You should def. talk to your doc about it. Personally I love it. Good luck.

  6. Good luck with the sugar!!! You can do it girlie!!! Lots of veggies help fill you up.

I'm a bad one to ask about BC...when I was on it, I always just did ortho-tri or Yaz (no!!! to Yaz!).

  7. I tried the Depo shot for a while and it did not work for me. It made my face break out and I never stopped having a period.

My sister-in-law however, has been on the shot for years and she absolutely loves it. No acne and no period. I guess it just depends on the person.

  8. I've never had the shot, but I had a friend that had it and she hated it. I guess it's your preference, but that was the ONLY one she could be on for health reasons but it was awful for her. If you do end up having it, I hope it helps to clear up your face. I feel your pain!

  9. I have to have a mid morning snack - I always feel weak if I don't so my go to is always fruit. ;)

  10. Sorry if this is late, I was on the depo shot, and gained over 50 pounds. I have been off of it for a while and am having a hard time losing the weight. I wouldn't suggest it!
