Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Wateree

Our family celebrated Memorial Day weekend with a family (and friends) weekend at the lake. My brother in law's family has a lakehouse (which is super tiny, but just big enough for my sister's family). The rest of us rented a lakehouse around the corner from them and spent the weekend fishing, boating, eating, laying out, shooting off fireworks and just relaxing.

I might have been cold and half asleep, but I was stoked about my baby catfish. Unfortunately, that's about as big as they got for me. I eventually gave up after I started falling asleep with the fishing pole in my hand.

12 people, 3 boats, 2 lakehouses, 0 cell phone reception, and 1 DNR warning made for a great weekend. We haven't had a great family vacation since the dreaded Disney trip.

Vacations with AJ's family though, are exactly what vacations are supposed to be - vacations. Time to relax, hang out, catch up on sleep. Vacations with my family are the exact opposite. Everyone stays up late, gets up early, and doesn't stop going all day long. So now that we're back, I feel like I need a vacation from vacation.

But coming home to this makes it so much better. I'm reminded again of why I love this place.
