Book Review: Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner
While not quite as good as Good in Bed and Certain Girls, Little Earthquakes was a great easy read. I had no idea what the book was about when I picked it up - I just new it was a Jennifer Weiner book, so I wanted to read it.
Of course, one of the girls in my office is convinced that I'm baby-bound as much as I talk about babies, but it doesn't help when you dive into a book and find out that it's about four mommas-to-be who meet in birthing class and journey together through the birth of their babies and the roller coaster of life after birth. You meet Ayinde, who's married to a professional basketball star, and it isn't until he races to meet her at the hospital that she smells another woman's perfume on his clothing. There's Kelly, a career woman, who is forced to go back to work sooner than she'd hoped after the birth of her baby. Becky struggles with being overweight and having an overbearing mother in law, who she wants nothing more than to strangle. And finally, Lia, a Hollywood actress turned mother has to deal with the SIDS death of her 10 week old baby, Caleb, returns back to her roots on the East Coast where she meets Ayinde, Kelly, and Becky.
These women are bonded by their babies, if nothing else.
I like that the book was broken up into character "chapters" instead of one long novel. It was easier to keep up with each person that way.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for an easy, but entertaining read. It's not going to keep you on the edge of your seat, nor is it an "I can't put it down!" type of book. It draws you in from the get-go, though, and keeps you entertained until the last page.

I've heard she's great but haven't read one of her books yet. I'll add it to my list. Thanks!
