Product Review: Edy's Mango Ice Cream

Edy's has some pretty good flavors of ice cream. They're responsible for the Girl Scout cookie flavors, and those are deeeelicious.

I like mangoes. I like ice cream. I was pretty excited when I came across it. I like peach ice cream. And strawberry ice cream. It should be really good, right?

Wrong.

This stuff is terrible. So terrible I couldn't even find a picture to show you.

I've read a couple of raves about this stuff, but most of them seemed to come with "tastes great after traditional Indian food" or "has a great Mexican flair", so maybe I'm a little too boring for it? Maybe if I jazzed up my dinner menu with some international cuisine it will taste a little better? Unfortunately, I don't think so.

Instead of having a sorbet texture, it has an ice cream texture, which would be great if they had made it more of a fruity ice cream. Instead it's like heavy cream with some mango thrown in. Not to mention the chunks of mango taste like processed chunks of mango-flavored gummy bears.

If you're brave - go for it. This stuff is now in the freezer at work so that some unsuspecting victim might come along and down some of it for me, so I don't feel bad throwing it away.

Edy's, FAIL.

Comments

  1. Ice cream after Mexican or Indian food just sounds wrong in itself!

If ice cream isn't good on it's own, then YES, it's a total FAIL.

    Boo Edy's!

  2. Mangos and ice cream do not mesh with me...I'd agree with you without even trying it.
