Our 1 Year Anniversary: Wedding Recap

Date: April 18, 2009

Location: Pawleys Island, SC

Colors: Chocolate, Orange, Hot Pink

Theme: Beach casual

Ceremony Music: Steel drums

First dance: "Lucky" by Jason Mraz

Dress: Mon Cheri

Reception Music: DJ, family of the friend

Food: Oysters, Lowcountry crab dip, Spring rolls, mini sandwiches

Drinks: Open beer & wine; cash liquor

Favors: Orange & purple koozies with the SC palmetto tree and our names

Cake: alternated apricot & raspberry filling, chocolate icing

Grooms Cake: buttercream cake, chocolate icing w/ a Clemson Tiger paw on top

Most Memorable Moment: AJ's college buddy stole a golf ball off the 18th hole, while a tournament was going on. In the middle of the reception, the DJ had to ask for whomever had stolen to ball to please return it to the green. AJ & I didn't know who had done it until we got our wedding pictures back a couple of weeks later and found this one:

To this day, our friends & family still talk about how much fun they had at our wedding. Both the DJ and the venue coordinator told us they had never seen a wedding reception where as many people danced the entire time. We certainly didn't plan to have such a great wedding (if that makes any sense), so I'm glad that people perceived it that way.

Most of the wedding was DIY: the invitations, the centerpieces, the flower girl bouquets, my necklace, the aisle runner, and most of the decorations. We were able to secure the DJ for a bottle of scotch, and we found a friend to act as a wedding coordinator.

Our wedding fit our personalities perfectly, and if I had to go back and do it all again, I don't think I'd change a thing.
