What does it take to make my day?
This conversation took place between my sister & I last night. The first part of the convo is pretty meaningless, but I was pretty sad. Let me preface the story by telling you that my sister's water pipe burst last week, and in the process of fixing it, her husband found out that they had squirrels living in their walls. And their attic. And the carport attic.
Me: Apparently I'm trying to slim the population of squirrels for you. I just hit one on my way home. He was bleeding. He probably died. He probably had a family. And he was getting acorns for his family. Now their dad is never coming home.
Sister: Um, can you just come to [her neighborhood] and do that? Juuust kidding. By the way, I'm calling PETA on you...
Me: I feel bad! Seriously!!
Sister: Well, if it makes you feel better... Sophia told me this morning that she wanted her Aunt Hilary to pick her up from school. It was really random, so I just let it go, thinking she'd forget. When I picked her up, she started bawling. I asked her what was wrong, and she said, "I wanted my Aunt Hiwawy to pick me up from skoo-w (school)!"
Is that not the sweetest thing? Her older sister came home with me from work a couple of weeks ago, and Sophia was in the car when their dad came to pick them up from my house, so I think she was probably upset that her sister was able to come hang out, but she wasn't.
So, possibly killing the patriarch of a squirrel family made me pretty upset, but my sweet Sophia made my day.
PS. It's 71 degrees outside right now!!!!

That is so cute about your niece! I can't wait to be an aunt!
ReplyDeleteI ran over a turtle once and I cried. I even think someone had run over it before me, but it still sucks to kill a little creature :(
