Might be too much.

So, I had all good intentions for Christmas this year. For the first year, I budgeted money ahead of time, and pretty much planned out what I was going to get or how much we could afford to spend on each person. And then that went out the window. I'm pretty sure if you look up over-consumption in the dictionary, my name will be there. AJ & I have a big family. The most logical thing would be to draw names, but that's just not as much fun. So after way too much shopping, and way too little money, here's where we stand:

Mom: Sarah Palin's new book, Needtobreathe cd

Dad: Clemson tie

Mom & Dad: Photobook of wedding pictures

Sister: Bubble bath, lotion, and summer after-sun mist

Bro-IL: Clemson t-shirt

Sister & Bro-IL: Frame of various wedding pictures & a photobook of pictures of the family from the last year

Niece #1: A spin art kit (I loved mine when I was little) & a Judy Bloom book

Niece #2: A punk-rocker outfit & a Wii game

Niece #3: A shirt that says 'so many cupcakes so little time' & a cup that has her name on it

Brother: Gap polo

Sis-IL: Amethyst bracelet

Brother & Sis-IL: A framed photo from our wedding (that they decided not to attend, is that weird?)

Nephew #1: A moto-cross Skin-it & a Tony Hawk shirt

Nephew #2: A "Daddy's Little Rocker" shirt, toddler markers, & a Thomas the Train coloring book

Aunt B: A flip-flop pineapple necklace from Hawaii

Sis-IL (AJ's sis): Just might read this, so I'll have to keep that one to myself :-)

Daddy C: We haven't decided yet.

We've probably spent about 30% more than we had intended, which pretty much sucks, but I cannot wait to watch them open them. That's the best part. I would write about what I got AJ, because I get excited just thinking about it, but I would be crushed if he read it. He almost made me cry last night, telling me the dog had ripped into one of his presents & he saw what it was (he was joking). I think in future years, AJ & I might have to instill the "Let's not buy each other anything" principle. But I cannot wait till Christmas. It's only 10 days away!!
