Saturday Ramblings.
Costa bites me. I roll her gum onto her teeth so she bites herself and know what it feels like. After yelping, I let her go. She snaps at me again. I get REALLY mad. Then, she walks off...
... and chases her tail. How can you stay mad at this?

(Please excuse the Shop Vac hose..)
I picked up my 3 year old niece this morning & took her to my friend Laura's little girl's 3rd birthday party. She was SUPER excited when I picked her up. We went to the store & picked out a princess computer for her. She helped me wrap it. All was good. We get to the party... 'I want MOMMY!' for the entire hour and a half at the pool. We all headed to Laura's house for pizza, presents, and cake. She turned into party monster. I backed off because she was having so much fun! Every couple of minutes she would ask Laura or another little girl's mom, Pam, where "Aunt Hiwawy" was, and then when she saw me, I'd wave & she'd wave back. She even told the birthday girl "Happy Birthday. Thank you." when we left. To which the birthday girl replied, "Happy Birthday. Thank you too." Too cute.
Laura also had this bright idea to put a riddle poem in an envelope and hand it out to a couple of people at the party to tell them she was pregnant. Mind you, she just found out YESTERDAY, so it's a little early to tell everyone, so she just told a select few. Of course, there are the key words, "HOLD THIS SECRET CLOSE TO YOUR HEART" in the poem. And of course, her sister reads it and goes, "OH MY GOD. LAURA'S PREGNANT." Yeah, way to go. Laura threw me a look & her husband was pretty irritated. It was pretty funny. She has 7 brothers and sisters ... you know SOMEONE is going to say something.
My baby fever is still running strong, but AJ made a good point the other day. We really do need to be more financially secure. Laura told me that her daycare for two children is going to be $1000 a month. I think I knew that in the back of my head, but didn't think about it. Plus, I learned an important tidbit in our compliance training a couple of weeks ago. If you put 10% down on a house instead of 20%, you have to have 6 months worth of mortgage payments in a deposit account. Put down 11% and that drops to 2 months worth. Houses in our neighborhood don't go for anything less than $150,000, in a bad economy. We'll have to wait till the market comes up to sell our house. So, let's see... we sell our house for $150,000. We pay off the $125,000 we owe my parents for it, we net $25,000. If we wanna buy a bigger house on the other end of town, we're looking at $250-300,000. Sooo... we need about $20,000 in savings. Hah. Hahahahaha. At this rate, we may not have babies for a long long time.
OH... and as far as my surprise goes. I am NOT pregnant. :-) And as far as a hint goes: 2 months and 3 days. But, that's all you get.

Okay okay...so you're not pregnant. Hmm...we'll just have to wait and see.
ReplyDeleteThe whole housing thing is crazyness...I never thought we'd own a house at 21 & 22, but we did. And as for babies being pricey...that's for sure ;)
I've been told by all my friends with kids that you can't save for a baby...you will never feel financially ready, but that it always works out. Sometimes I agree with them, but other times it makes nervous as we take the potential baby plunge.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget when you sell your house the listing agent takes a butt load of your profit. Plus there are all these crazy fees and closing costs. I was disgusted by how much we're actually getting back. Sold condo for 175, paid off remaining loan of 155. I was thinking WOO HOO 20 grand in the bank. HA! We're just hoping now to get enough to pay off our 5000 floors we put in just to sell the darn place.
