Lovely weekend...
How's this for complicated. (You may need to get out a piece of paper & a pen.) My brother's first wife's first husband is the ex-husband of my brother's current wife's mother. Did you get that? It just makes me laugh because their family is so crazy anyway, this just adds to it. :-)
My parents took my two oldest nieces up for my oldest nephew's birthday party this weekend. They were shunned by everyone in my brother's family. The funny part though? My brother's mother in law showed up (who knows if she was actually invited) with a bandaged nose. While my mom and I had the same first thought that she must've mouthed off to someone who wasn't as far away as we were and they knocked her a good one. Nope, she had a good old fashioned nose job. Which I find utterly hilarious, actually. I mean, fine, go have a nose job... but you wanted to show your face soooo bad that you came fresh out of recovery? Really?
My mom has decided she will not return to visit my brother or anyone in his family. She'll visit my nephews if they're in town, here, or if they are with their mother, but she's not putting herself into that situation again. My sister agreed. Everyone knows that my brother's wife is the brains behind their behavior, and that she's trying to separate my brother from his family, so we're not playing her games.
Anyway, on the non-drama front, two more gifts from our registry! Wine glasses and canisters for our kitchen!! We've also gotten one more RSVP for the party! That makes 5 total guests, making 8 in all. Hey, we'll have a fine and dandy shower, even if it is only 8 girls!
I'm dog-sitting for a co-worker this weekend/week, and as we speak, her female dog has found an attraction to a stuffed dolphin. Interesting...
AJ and I got a lot accomplished on our house this weekend! AJ finished the wainscotting in most of the living room. He bought some more cabinets for our bar area. And he primed the dining room walls. I decided that since it was so gorgeous outside, I would do some yard work. Let me tell you how hard raking leaves is with an old school rake. I would MUCH rather have a blower any day of the week! I got the front yard done, put down some weed & feed and called it a night. I bought a whole bunch of flower seeds to try my hand at gardening, but I can't figure out if we're out of frost danger yet, so I just planted them all in styro-foam (recyclable) cups until I know the weather has warmed up. I mean, on Monday, it was snowing...
Doggie update: She just jumped on the recliner and started trying to dig a hole. I yelled at her, and now she's laying down moping, being the quietest I've ever seen her...
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm going to go indulge in my girl-time and watch Changeling!
